What’s Stopping You?

August 15th, 2009

In this post, I’d really like to hear from you about what’s stopping you from participating at the studio to the degree you’d like.

Maybe you’ve watched us online for a while but you’ve never come in to the studio because we don’t offer the classes you want at a time that’s convenient.

Or perhaps you’re a starving student and even with our amazing student pricing you still find we don’t fit your budget.

Or it could be that you lack the motivation to stick with any fitness program, not just Soul Sister.

Whatever it is, and I do mean whatever, please hit that comment button below and let me know! I can’t promise to solve all your challenges but if I don’t know what’s stopping you from joining us to the extent you’d like, I can’t even begin to know where to start to help you get down here, right?

Of course, if you have any suggestions for how I can help you overcome your challenges and get your sexy self on down here to play, feel free to send them along as well. I’ll also be putting on my creative thinking cap to try to come up with some ideas, and anyone else who has suggestions is free to join the discussion as well.

Come help us fulfill both our mission and yours, by working together to get you in to the studio as much as you’d like!

Fall Scheduling

August 15th, 2009

It’s that time of year when I start the always-interesting process of putting together the Fall class schedule. Normally I spend several weeks pulling out my hair, juggling times and days, reviewing instructors’ availability and skill sets for the different classes, cross-checking and double-checking, correcting oversights and errors, and sometimes re-doing the whole thing before I end up with a final version.

This year I thought I’d make the entire process much more fun by inviting your input as well!

Seriously though, my goal is to give you what you want in terms of classes, and this is probably the most efficient way for me to gather the information. Just a couple of guidelines before we get started though:

Today is Saturday, August 15th. I would like to have a final version of the Fall schedule available no later than Friday, August 21st. So please, if you’ve got something to say about the Fall schedule, say it sooner rather than later!

The second guideline is to please consider your request carefully before submitting it. What I mean by this is, if you think that early morning classes are a good idea in general, but you know you’re not an early morning person and your commitment to attending a 6:00 a.m. class is honestly not likely to last more than two weeks, please make another suggestion instead ok?

What I’m getting at is that I want to know what you really, really want. Your most burning desires. Those things that will make you jump up and down with glee, clapping your hands and saying, “oh goody goody, I’ve always hoped Susan would put a 2:00 a.m. marathon training clinic on the schedule!”

You get the idea, right? OK girls, here’s your chance. Let’s hear from you!

Welcome!

July 30th, 2009

Welcome to the brand new Soul Sister blog!

For some time now I’ve been wanting to set up a system for two way communication between the studio and our student base (that’s you) so that we can learn more about what you want and need from Soul Sister.

By brainstorming alongside you, my goal is to find out exactly what you want and deliver it to you. After all, I know that in order to be successful, Soul Sister has to provide you with what you’re looking for in a fitness studio. Conversely, the faster the studio grows and the more successful it is, the more we can offer you. So it’s a real win-win for us to work together, dontcha think?

I also want to be able to engage in dialog with you about issues that affect the studio, since many heads are better than one when it comes to finding solutions and being creative about how best to get something done. Ultimately, Soul Sister is all about YOU, and your input and ideas are vital to growing Soul Sister into a strong and lasting presence in our community.

So if you love what we’re currently doing and want to help us grow into even bigger shoes (sexy ones, of course!) then please jump into the discussion. This is a free speech forum and I really do want to know what you think, what you want, and what your ideas are. However, please observe a few common courtesies to help us all enjoy our time here on the blog:

1) For ease of understanding (especially for those of us over the age of 25) please write in English, not in txt msg 4mat.

2) Please show respect for others, their comments and ideas, even if you don’t agree. And of course, feel free to express your own opinions, respectfully of course.

3) Please keep your posts on topic. If you have an idea for another topic that you think would benefit from group brainstorming, or you have an idea you’d like to discuss, just send me an email to let me know and I will bring it up on the blog under a new topic if it’s appropriate and timely. Please keep in mind that in order to avoid overwhelming everyone I won’t be posting numerous topics in a short time period, but I will acknowledge all emails and work your ideas into the blog as and when appropriate.

How The Blog Works
In order to keep some focus and order to our discussions, I’ll be making posts on specific topics and asking for your ideas, comments, opinions and other input.

To comment, look for the link at the bottom of my original post. If you’re the first to post a comment it will say something like “no comments yet.” Just click on that link and you’ll be the first to post. If there are already comments, these will be displayed and you can read what others have said then leave a comment of you own if you like.

I’ll be reading every comment, as well as summarizing and then regrouping for the next topic. My goal is that we (me, my fabulous staff, and all of you lovely ladies) will then work together to help make your desires a reality as Soul Sister realizes its mission to empower women.
